The NECBL league leader in home runs, Anthony Ruggiero, will represent the Mystic Schooners in the 2026 NECBL Home Run Derby on Sunday, July 26.

Ruggiero is a recent commit to the University of Rhode Island. This summer, Ruggiero has hit six long balls, which is tied for the league lead.

In addition to his home run abilities, Ruggiero has hit .275 with the Schooners. In 25 games played, Ruggiero has scored 26 runs and plated 17. Ruggiero also has base-stealing capabilities, swiping 10 bags this summer.

In 71 at-bats at Northeastern University this past spring, Ruggiero hit two home runs as a red-shirt freshman.

Ruggiero will also represent Mystic as a reserve outfielder in the All-Star game.
