Former Schooner Andrew Gaines who spent his last summer in Mystic was drafted in the 10th round of the 2026 MLB Draft. Gaines is a Marlton, New Jersey native and just concluded his senior season as a relief pitcher.

With the 311th pick, the Milwaukee Brewers selected Gaines out of St. Joseph’s University. This season, Gaines pitched to a 4.99 ERA across 30.2 innings pitched, striking out 48 hitters this season.

The right-handed pitcher was named to the 2026 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team. Gaines matched St. Joseph's single-save season with 10 saves.

With Mystic, Gaines struck out 15 through 9.1 innings of work in 2025.
